Hong Kong actress Athena Chu gains $1.3 M from Kowloon property sales


Hong Kong actress Athena Chu made a profit of HK$10.38 million (US$1.3 million) by selling two apartments in Hong Lai Garden, Kowloon City.

The combined sale value of these properties was HK$16.46 million (about $2.1 million), as reported by the Hong Kong news outlet On.

The first apartment, bought in April 2002 for HK$2.88 million, was sold by Chu for HK$9.08 million last December, netting her a profit of HK$6.2 million. Dimsum Daily revealed that this apartment was once the residence of Chu’s family.

Chu’s second apartment in the same complex was originally purchased in 2005 for HK$3.2 million. It was sold for HK$7.38 million, earning her a profit of HK$4.18 million. Initially co-owned with another individual, this property was later transferred solely to Chu.

While Athena Chu has stepped back from the film industry in recent years, she occasionally appears in reality shows and advertisements for fashion and cosmetic brands. She’s reportedly focusing on family life, enjoying simplicity and tranquility.

Chu, born in 1971, is renowned for her engaging beauty and acting skills. She famously portrayed Huang Rong in the 1994 TV series “The Legend of the Condor Heroes,” Zixia in the 1995 fantasy-comedy “A Chinese Odyssey,” and Yuan Ziyi in the 2006 series “Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain.”

Chu and singer Paul Wong tied the knot in 2012, and they welcomed their daughter in the same year.
