The director of the National Center for Judicial Records and two other officials were arrested Friday for taking bribes while issuing criminal records.
Hoang Quoc Hung, the 60-year-old director, was arrested on the same day as Luong Nhan Hoa, 45, the center’s deputy director, and Nguyen Dinh Canh, 32, deputy head of its administration department.
A Hanoi Justice Department staff member and two people from a law company were also arrested for giving bribes.
The arrests were part of a national investigation into foreigners staying illegally in Vietnam, thanks to violations including document forgery and bribery at the criminal records center, as well as the labor departments at several provinces.
