Ho Chi Minh City plans to host a meeting at which 100 CEOs from major corporations around the globe will gather to discuss investment.
The event, named T100 Connect, will be part of the 2023 Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) September 13-17. Local media have dubbed the gathering the “tea party.”
Le Truong Duy, an apprentice under the vice director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, said the meeting would be held at a large hotel in the southern metropolis.
HCMC leaders would be in attendance to obtain feedback and solutions for sustainable economic development, he added.
Event organizers aim to facilitate pitches for investments in green economy solutions for HCMC, according to Duy.
He said the idea for the meeting stemmed from the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s 600-CEOs model.
“We expect to invite around 100 business leaders from around the world thanks to the recommendations and support from WEF,” he said.
Representatives from the WEF itself will also attend HEF 2023, along with those from other global financial institutions like the World Bank, the IMF, the IFC and ADB.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other government leaders from 21 countries and territories are also expected to attend alongside other business representatives and experts.
Event organizers have said they expect 1,200-1,500 participants.
Nguyen Ngoc Hoa, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union Business Association and a HEF organizer, said on Thursday that green growth trends and models would be discussed at the event, as well as the creation of an ecosystem for a circular economy.
