Hanoi authorities are set to fine a coffee shop on Train Street for opening its doors and doing business despite an indefinite closure order.
Pham Tuan Long, chairman of Hoan Kiem District where the street is situated, said local authorities had put up barriers near Toa café where players from visiting German football club Borussia Dortmund were seen sitting on rail tracks and drinking coffee on Tuesday.
After arriving in Hanoi for a friendly against the Vietnamese national team, the Dortmund players took a cyclo tour around the city and visited places like the Turtle Tower and Ngoc Son Temple.
But viral images of them sitting and taking photos on the tracks on social media sparked public outrage.
Since September people have been prohibited from filming and drinking coffee on the street due to “safety concerns.”
