Hanoi to pay $3.8 mln for state workers to study abroad

According to the plan issued early this week, the Home Affairs Department will send 60 staff to study urban development management in Japan, Singapore and the U.S. for VND11 billion while 100 others will be sent to Germany, Japan, Singapore and the U.S. to learn about managing and developing human resources for a fee exceeding VND18 billion.

The Finance Department will let 100 staff go to Germany, Singapore and the U.S. to learn practical experience in public financial management, public investment, public strategy and policy, as well as formulating and organizing the implementation of policies at a total budget of VND18 billion.

The plan, to be carried out from now until 2025 and with a vision toward 2030, will also see the Department of Science and Technology send 20 employees to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the U.S. to learn about management, formulation, and implementation of policies in the field of science and technology with funding of VND3.6 billion.

The Department of Education and Training will send 100 officials to learn experience in digital transformation in education management in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the U.S. at the cost of VND18.4 billion.

With the same funding, the Health Department will send 100 staff to Australia, France and New Zealand to learn about digital transformation in the medical sector.

The plan also tasks related agencies with organizing foreign training courses for state workers.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Vietnam had sent more than 39,000 state workers to study abroad in 2016-2020. Of them, 45% are senior officials and managers.
