Over 2.3 million students in Hanoi will get an 8-day Tet break this year, the same as last year.
The Hanoi People’s Committee on Tuesday approved the Tet break for students to from Feb. 7 to 14. The Lunar New Year, Vietnam’s biggest holiday, peaks on Feb. 10 this year.
The break for students in Hanoi is one day longer than that for officials, government workers and most businesses, which starts from Feb. 8.
During the break, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has requested schools to ensure safety for students, especially in cyberspace.
By Tuesday, over 20 localities have announced the duration of Tet breaks for students. Students in Lao Cai in the northern highlands get the longest break, 16 days from Feb. 3 to 18.
Several localities, mostly in southern Vietnam, allow students Tet breaks lasting 14 days. They include An Giang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, HCMC and Quang Ninh. Their breaks will last from Feb. 5 to either 17 or 18.
The remaining localities plan to give students Tet breaks lasting 10-13 days.
