Hanoi organises first contest on food quality and safety

HA NOI — Hanoi organised a contest to improve knowledge on quality and safety of agricultural, forestry and fishery food in 2023 for the first time on December 14.

This contest is jointly held by the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the People’s Committees of districts in the city.

Speaking at the opening of the contest, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Ta Van Tuong said: “The contest aims to innovate propaganda methods and raise awareness of quality assurance and safety food, honouring organisations and individuals performing quality management and food safety, and those directly producing and trading agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the area.”

The contest has a city-wide scale with 30 districts, whereby each district has one competition team. Participants are officials working in State management, propagandising food safety and establishments including businesses, cooperatives, and individual households that produce, pre-process, process, or trade agricultural, forestry or aquatic products. After going through the preliminary round, the final round took place on December 14 with over 300 delegates from central agencies, Hanoi city and people participating and cheering.

Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, Director of the Hà Nội Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Control Sub-Department informed that Hanoi currently has over 76,000 food production, processing and trading establishments, of which there are over 13,000 establishments managed by the agricultural sector with over 20,000 people directly involved in producing and trading agricultural, forestry and fishery food products. Food safety management in the agricultural sector is divided into 3 levels, with 1,087 officials.

In recent years, Hanoi’s agriculture sector has implemented many solutions to improve quality management, ensure food safety, promote trade, and connect consumption of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, thereby contributing to ensuring supply, balancing goods supply and demand, and stabilising the agricultural and food market.

The Q&A session in the final round attracted the attention of delegates as well as the audience in the auditorium.
The organising committee selected 6 finalist teams with the highest achievements including: Dan Phuong, Ha Dong, Soc Son, Thanh Tri, Thach That and Tay Ho.

From 30 competition teams from 30 districts in the city, through the exciting preliminary round, the organising committee selected six finalists with the highest achievements including: Dan Phuong, Ha Dong, Soc Son, Thanh Tri, Thach That and Tay Ho. The competition rounds of the contest are organised meticulously and methodically, in accordance with the organising committee’s regulations. The contest draws interest and enthusiastic response from management agencies and communities of agricultural, forestry and fishery product production, processing and business establishments. The atmosphere in the auditorium of Thanh Xuan district Culture, Information and Sports Centre bustled with the cheers of the audience.

The final round took place at the Thanh Xuan district Culture, Information and Sports Centre, attracting a large number of people to participate and cheer.

At the end of the contest, the organising committee awarded a Special Prize to the team from Tay Ho District, first prize to the team from Soc Son District, second prize to the team from Thanh Tri District, and third prize to the team from the districts of Ha Dong, Dan Phuong and Thach That. VNS
