A man was arrested Tuesday after robbing VND700 million (US$28,100) from a Vietinbank branch in northern Vietnam at gunpoint the previous afternoon.
Pham Duc Anh, 33, was arrested at around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, more than 13 hours after he robbed the bank in Song Cong Town, Thai Nguyen Province.
Police have recovered more than half of the money.
Security cameras at the bank show a man with his face and head covered with a mask and hood arriving on a motorbike at 2:15 p.m. on Monday.
He sits on a bench meant for customers for a while before he approaches the counter and brandishes a gun at the staff.
He stuffs the money the staff hand over in a bag and flees immediately.
Two guards and some of the staff chased after the robber but failed to stop him.
