Twenty-two people in the northern Vinh Phuc Province were caught playing poker in a 5-star hotel on Monday, with VND1 billion ($42,517) seized during the raid.
The police arrested the people in a hotel in Vinh Yen Town, and took them to the police headquarters to be investigated for gambling and organizing gambling.
Most of the arrested were golf players, though their exact identities and violations have yet to be announced.
Poker is approved for play in tournaments by the Bridge and Poker Vietnam Association, which is under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
However, poker tournaments can still be considered gambling if organized spontaneously.
