Give IPP Air Cargo permission to fly: Ministry of Transport

The Ministry of Transport has proposed that IPP Air Cargo be given licenses to operate as the first cargo airline in Vietnam, in its pursuit to compete with long-established foreign players.

“The airline was launched to provide quality cargo-dedicated transport services, seeking to boost logistics development and increase goods delivery growth,” it said in a proposal to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

IPP Air Cargo targets a volume growth of 18-20% annually. It is set to compete with 47 international cargo airlines who regularly fly to Vietnam.

The airline now needs approval from the Prime Minister and an air operator certificate before it can launch its maiden flight.

Jonathan Hanh Nguyen, chairman of the airline parent company Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG), told VnExpress on Tuesday the airline plans to conduct its maiden flight in November.

It has completed the procedures to lease four Boeing Converted Freighters 737 800BCF.

The airline plans to start its route from major manufacturing and export locations like Can Tho, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, connecting them with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and foreign countries.
