Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City continue to experience several stations running out of fuel or overloaded with customers.
Hanoi residents must now wait up to 30 minutes to fill their tanks. Some go to the fuel stations at midnight but still encounter a crowd.
Gasoline retailers have been complaining that buying from suppliers have been difficult lately as they themselves are out of inventory, and authorities’ delay in adjusting up retail price make them sell at a loss.
Vietnam’s refined fuel imports in the first 10 months of 2022 rose 22.8% from a year earlier to 7.13 million tonnes, but costs rose 123.8% to $7.37 billion, according to official data.
