Garuda Indonesia was the world’s most punctual airline in 2022, with 95.6% of its flights taking off and landing in time, according to British aviation data provider OAG.
It was followed by South Africa’s Safair and Germany’s Eurowings with an on-time performance of 95.3%, its Punctuality League report said.
Thai AirAsia was fourth and South Korea’s Jeju Airlines rounded out the top five.
To qualify for inclusion in the report, airlines must have operated a minimum of 18,000 scheduled flights during the year.
OAG defines on-time performance as flights arriving or departing within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.
There are six Asian carriers in the top 20.
“Global on-time performance is reaching levels last seen before the pandemic as carriers work to ease operational pressures and delays,” John Grant, chief analyst at OAG, said.
“Confidence in travel recovery is growing with airlines placing new aircraft orders, new routes being announced and labor challenges seemingly subsiding.”
