The 31-year-old Senegalese football star Sadio Mane and his teenage wife Aisha Tamba are not going on honeymoon yet as she has returned to school for her final exams.
Mane held a private wedding ceremony with his long-time girlfriend Tamba, 19, in Senegal’s capital Dakar on Jan. 7, eight days before Senegal’s first game at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Gambia.

Senegal will start their journey of defending the AFCON title on Jan. 15 with Mane as their captain. The team are in group C with Cameroon and Guinea.
The cup’s final takes place on Feb. 11 and Mane has hoped to have a honeymoon after that, or before if Senegal are eliminated, MailOnline reported.
But his wife’s family wants her to focus on her studies ahead of her final baccalaureate exams this summer, Moussa Ndiaye, Mane’s friend who played a role in arranging his marriage, told MailOnline.
Tamba, daughter of an architect in Senegal, first met Mane three years ago but the football star did not approach her formally since she was a minor, according to Sene News.
He told his uncle, a friend of Tamba’s family, who helped arrange the marriage.
Mane won many titles while playing for Liverpool from 2016 to 2022, including the Champions League and the Premier League. After that, he played for Bayern Munich for one season before moving to Saudi club Al-Nassr, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
