Flights between Asian cities and Singapore canceled due to Typhoon Gaemi

A number of flights between major Asian tourism destinations and Singapore were canceled as Typhoon Gaemi barreled through Taiwan and the Philippines before hitting southern China.

Two Xiamen Airlines flights between Singapore and China’s Fuzhou City were suspended on Thursday as the typhoon made landfall in Fujian Province, bringing heavy rains and strong winds, The Straits Times reported.

Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian in southeastern China, also suspended train services from Thursday.

Three flights between Singapore and Taipei were canceled on Thursday after the typhoon through Taiwan on Wednesday, leaving at least two dead and 200 others injured.

Though the typhoon did not cross the Philippines, it caused heavy rains and flooding in the capital Manila and paralyzed traffic.

Philippines’ low-cost Cebu Pacific airline canceled flights between Manila and Singapore on Thursday.

Dozens of flights scheduled to depart Singapore on Thursday and Friday have also been delayed, according to Changi Airport’s website.
