First ‘Proud of Vietnamese Specialties’ hosted by Central Retail

HÀ NỘI — Central Retail on August 22 is hosting its first major ‘Proud of Vietnamese Specialities’ promotion to mark Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.  

Running until September 4 at all GO!, Big C, and TopsMarket stores nationwide, the event features diverse regional delicacies like Hà Nội’s, Bún thang, Huế’s beef noodle soup, Quảng Nam noodles and Phú Quốc fish sauce.

Commercial Director of Fresh Food at Central Retail Việt Nam, Jose Mestre, said that the Central and the GO! supermarket chains have conducted many programmes promoting Vietnamese products.  

These initiatives include boosting domestic goods sales, with over 90 per cent of revenue derived from local products and supporting farmers and agricultural cooperatives through practices like direct farm purchases, discount assistance and logistics via Central Retail Việt Nam’s warehouses.

“With this event, we aim to offer consumers a chance to discover the diverse culinary delights from across Việt Nam, embracing the fresh and delightful specialties from every corner of the country. Our goal is to instil greater love and pride for Việt Nam and its people,” said Mestre. 

Bùi Quang Hưng, Deputy Director of the Việt Nam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), said that the agency has initiated various market connection activities, trade shows and local and international exhibitions to boost the supply-demand and consumption of products like OCOP (One Community, One Product) items, rural industrial goods, key agricultural products and regional specialities.

“We believe that focusing on consumption, market exploration, and development is key to encouraging enterprises to actively participate in product enhancement and driving the consumption of OCOP and rural industrial products through domestic distribution networks,” Hưng said.  

The ‘Proud of Vietnamese Specialities’ event by Central Retail Group is a strong affirmation of reputable retail businesses’ commitment to promoting and advancing Vietnamese products. — VNS
