Filipino food brands launch posters inspired by Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo

In addition to giving Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo free food for life, food and beverage brands in the Philippines got inventive with posters demonstrating his performances at the Games.

McDonald’s in the Philippines got creative with its golden arches, showcasing Yulo’s impressive floor exercise and the arches were inverted to represent the straps of his two gold medals, Bilyonaryo news site reported.

Fast food restaurant chain Chowking, one of the country’s largest, wrote on its Facebook page “Congratulations Carlos Yulo on your win! We are proud of you!”, accompanied with a poster using chopsticks and a Buchi to fashion an Olympic medal.

Pizza Hut also posted an advertisement simulating Yulo’s performance pose on the edge of a pizza.

Happy Cup also posted an advertisement featuring the impressive performance of the 24-year-old gymnast at the Paris Olympics, where he brought home two gold medals.

Coffee chain Tomo Kopi quickly caught the trend with the image of Yulo enjoying a drink of the brand while performing the men’s vault.

Chooks-to-Go, a chain of grilled chicken and processed meat stores operating in the Philippines, celebrated the win with a photo of Yulo’s performance pose.

Barbecue fast food restaurant chain Mang Inasal created a gold medal image made from a bowl of their signature sinigang soup.

Yulo became the first Filipino man to win an Olympic gold medal after competing in the artistic gymnastic floor exercise on Saturday, and won another gold in the individual vault final a day later.

Many restaurants in the Philippines promised to offer him a lifetime supply of free traditional dishes such as ramen, cheese, grilled chicken and unlimited buffets.

He is also set to receive numerous awards from the Philippine government, including a monetary reward of 10 million pesos (US$173,000) and a two-bedroom condo unit valued at 24 million pesos in Manila’s McKinley Hill urban development, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
