HCM CITY — A large branch from an old tree in Tao Đàn Park in HCM City’s District 1 unexpectedly broke and fell to the ground early Friday morning, hitting a group of old people doing exercises, killing two and injuring three others.
The deceased victims were N.T.D.L, 70 years old, and T.C.T, 70 years old, both from Cô Giang Ward, Bến Thành District.

The time of the incident was about 6am, no strong wind or rains were observed.
Witnesses living nearby reported that two people died and three others were injured and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment at Sài Gòn General Hospital.
As of 9am the same day, authorities were still at the scene investigating the cause of the incident. — VNS
