Vietnam will play four games in the group stage against Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Timor Leste at 7 p.m. on May 6, 8, 13 and 15.

If Vietnam can make it to the semifinal and final rounds, the screens would remain, Vo Trong Nam, deputy director of the city Department of Culture and Sports, said.

He said Ho Chi Minh City Football Club is footing the bill for them, but did not disclose the cost.

Large outdoor screens have been set up on Nguyen Hue for years but not for the last two years when Covid-19 precluded it.

The 31st SEA Games, a biennial regional multi-sport event, will be held in Hanoi and several northern provinces this month.

Vietnam are the defending champions in football.
