Vietnam’s central hub Da Nang City is building a plan to support sex workers looking to quit prostitution with VND2 million (US$82) each.
According to a plan drafted by the municipal People’s Committee, already submitted to the People’s Council for approval this week, the funds will be extracted from the city’s budget.
Each former sex worker supported will be placed in a three-month training course to learn a legal profession.
After graduating from the course, each worker will be assisted in finding their first job in accordance with the profession they have registered to learn.
The plan aims to make sure the aid and support will be indiscriminately applied to people of working age that have dropped out of school early, as well as youths with criminal records.
