Authorities in popular resort town Da Lat have ordered a homestay facility to remove a surveillance camera it had installed in a room after receiving complaints from tourists.
Le Anh Kiet of the local Department of Culture and Information said Friday officials visited the Barn Home Farm on Trieu Viet Vuong Street after getting a complaint from a group of tourists about a camera in their dormitory.
The owner claimed the camera was only meant to ensure people did not lose belongings and he “had no bad intentions.”
The officials had ordered him to remove it, he said.
On Friday he also made a public apology on the homestay’s Facebook homepage.
Da Lat in the Central Highlands is popular for its year-round cool climate, green pine forests, misty landscapes, and architectural gems from the colonial era.
It received seven million tourists in 2019.
