HÀ NỘI — The Authority of Information Security (AIS) detected more than 90,000 vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure in June, according to AIS Director Lê Văn Tuấn.
Tuấn was speaking at a seminar on cybersecurity on Thursday.
He said digital attacks are now a global phenomenon, targeting critical infrastructure, including power grids, banks and healthcare systems.
Closer to home, Vietnamese businesses suffer significant losses due to sophisticated data encryption attacks and in spite of ongoing warnings, online scams continue to plague the country.
Determined to combat this growing threat, up until June this year, the agency had blocked nearly 3,200 fraudulent websites. However, the scale of the problem underscores the urgent need for stronger cybersecurity measures.
The seminar also featured the Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation (KIPS), which simulates a real-world business and its cost structures associated with cybersecurity measures.
KIPS participants, presented with various cybersecurity scenarios, were required to select appropriate actions to mitigate risks and protect their bottom line.
“Interactive simulations give stakeholders a clear picture of their organisation’s vulnerabilities,” said Tuấn. “This helps them make better decisions in today’s complex cybersecurity landscape.”
More than 400 cybersecurity experts from the National Computer Emergency Team and representatives from nearly 200 organisations participated in KIPS training.
Kaspersky’s report revealed a dramatic surge in the number of compromised accounts in Việt Nam in recent years, with a 31-fold increase in 2023 compared to 2020. — VNS
