Cambodian PM calls for SEA Games spectators to maintain dignity

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has called upon spectators to maintain their dignity whilst supporting Cambodian competitors in the forthcoming SEA Games.

He cited a bad example in 2016, when the Cambodian national football team played East Timor and some fans invaded the pitch.

The PM asked the people to comply with security measures and social order.

At the same time, he urged the people, no matter which group they support, to adopt a dignified attitude by not insulting the team or players they do not like, whether directly or through social media.

The PM asked Cambodians to maintain dignity and solidarity with players from other countries. He stated that whether Cambodia lose or win, as hosts, Cambodians must behave appropriately with guests.

According to the Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC), the Games will see athletes competing in 37 sports across nearly 600 disciplines, and ASEAN Para Games 12 with 13 sports.

With the slogan “Sports – Living in Peace”, SEA Games 32 will take place from May 5-17 in the capital city of Phnom Penh and four other localities, Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep.
