Blackpink members decide against renewing individual contracts with YG Entertainment

However, the company reassured that the group’s activity contract, which had been renewed on Dec. 6, remains intact, as The Straits Times reports.

“We have agreed not to extend our contracts regarding individual activities [with Blackpink members],” YG Entertainment stated. “We will continue to give Blackpink our full support and sincerely cheer for their individual activities.”

Jennie is the only one to have disclosed her solo career plans so far by announcing the creation of her self-established agency, Odd Atelier, on Dec. 24, as covered by The Korea Herald.

“This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received,” read her Instagram post.

“I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course, Blackpink. Thank you.”

Since debuting in 2016 with Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé, Blackpink has gained global fame with hits like “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” “Kill This Love,” and “Pink Venom.”

Highlighting their achievements, Blackpink’s Born Pink world tour, starting late last year, earned about $260.6 million and sold 1.5 million tickets. This tour set a new record for the highest-grossing girl group tour ever, surpassing Spice Girls’ 2019 Reunion Tour, which made $78.2 million.”
