All Vietnamese regions to see rain this week

Heavy rains will pummel all regions in Vietnam this week, with downpours lasting the entire week for the north, and until mid-week for other areas.

Northern Vietnam has entered a rainy period until July 20 due to the impacts of a tropical convergence zone, along with a tropical depression to the south of Vietnam’s Paracel Islands, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Rain levels in the north could go up to 100 mm during the period. The rains will move towards the mountainous regions starting July 8.

U.S. weather service AccuWeather said Hanoi’s temperatures would fall to between 26-33 degrees Celsius this week. High-altitude locations like Lao Cai’s Sa Pa will record temperatures at 18-25 degrees.

Central Vietnam regions would see the highest rain levels in the coming days, reaching up to 200 mm until July 17. Southern Vietnam and the Central Highlands will record rain levels up to 150 mm by July 17.

Meteorologists warn of flooding and erosion risks in the mountainous regions of the north, to the west of areas from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai, as well as the Central Highlands.
