Vietnam’s squad were hit hard by Covid-19 before the final. After the semifinal with Timor Leste on Thursday, Vietnam had two injured players and one more Covid-19 case. Therefore, they had only 11 players left to prepare for the final. Previously, 24 out of 27 players registered for the tournament got Covid and Vietnam had to call up more players.

On Friday, four returned from Covid and Vietnam had 15 players for the game, while Thailand are not affected by Covid-19 as no player in their team has been infected.

Vietnam defeated Thailand 1-0 in the group stage Tuesday.

In the group stage, Vietnam beat Thailand 1-0 to top group C.
