Doan Van Hien officially started as vice president in charge of electrification smart power and smart buildings on Nov. 1, in addition to his current role as vice president in electrification distribution solutions.

“We are pleased that Hien has joined smart power and smart building division role. Being a valued member of ABB for nearly 20 years who possesses a solid background and leadership skills, I am confident that working together with our strong team and local partners, we will work closely with our customers, bringing electrification of ABB in Vietnam to the next level,” said Seunghun Lee, vice president, electrification smart power and smart buildings, Asia and Pacific region.

Supporting Vietnam’s emission commitment

To reach the net-zero carbon emission target by 2050, Vietnam will need to reduce carbon emissions, reduce pollution, and implement higher energy optimization in practical terms. The government has defined key areas to focus on such as transition to renewable energy; reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; use of electric vehicles (EVs); adoption of digital economy to address climate change, etc. ABB has solutions in place to support Vietnam’s emission targets from micro to macro levels, from changes in a single home to a whole industry.

ABB has a solid track record in the country in powering smart buildings, smart industries, and infrastructure as one of the earliest European investors into Vietnam in 1990 and has recently been driving emerging segments like data centers and electric vehicles in the context of rapid paced urbanization and surging demand for energy consumption in the country.

ABB’s solutions combine its expertise and software, helping users utilize energy efficiently, reduce energy consumption, optimize operation and cost and uptime.

“I am proud to be part of a team who works towards supporting Vietnam to implement the commitment of Net Zero and write a future of safe, smart and sustainable electrification for the country. With ABB’s long-standing history in the power business from home solutions to buildings and to infrastructure and industries, we have proven to be a leader,” Hien said.
