Việt Nam’s daily COVID caseload hits record high again

HÀ NỘI — With 36,200 new COVID-19 infections on Thursday, Việt Nam’s daily tally has now hit a record high for four consecutive days.

The new cases bring the tally across the country to 2,643,024 with 39,278 deaths and 2,254,965 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.

There are 3,017 severe infections as of Thursday, including 16 on life support.

Out of the new daily transmissions, 25,345 were community cases.

The capital city of Hà Nội registered the highest daily number of infections with 3,893, followed by Thái Nguyên (2,478), Quảng Ninh (2,477) and Hải Phòng (1,548).

The remaining transmissions were found in Phú Thọ (1,417), Vĩnh Phúc (1,362), Bắc Ninh (1,362), Nghệ An (1,352), Hải Dương (1,350), Nam Định (1,344), Hòa Bình (1,256), Bắc Giang (1,112), Thái Bình (877), Thanh Hóa (861), Lào Cai (820), Sơn La (779), Yên Bái (741), Hưng Yên (709), Đà Nẵng (705), Tuyên Quang (666), Quảng Nam (614), Bình Định (588), Quảng Bình (569), Hà Tĩnh (545), Đắk Lắk (484), Khánh Hòa (484), Hồ Chí Minh City (483), Quảng Trị (444), Lạng Sơn (425), Phú Yên (381), Lâm Đồng (374), Gia Lai (342), Cao Bằng (285), Quảng Ngãi (265), Bình Phước (264), Thừa Thiên Huế (241), Đắk Nông (225), Hà Nam (219), Lai Châu (213), Điện Biên (195), Bắc Kạn (182), Kon Tum (149), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (133), Cà Mau (123), Hà Giang (112), Bình Thuận (105), Đồng Nai (91), Bình Dương (79), Bến Tre (71), Vĩnh Long (67), Kiên Giang (64), Trà Vinh (59), Bạc Liêu (58), Tây Ninh (37), Đồng Tháp (27), Hậu Giang (19), Long An (13), An Giang (12), Sóc Trăng (12), Ninh Thuận (11), Cần Thơ (11) and Tiền Giang (6).

A total of 90 COVID-related deaths were registered, taking the number of fatalities to 39,278, accounting for 1.5 per cent of total infections.

Hà Nội saw the highest daily number of deaths with 19, followed by Đà Nẵng (8), Kiên Giang (6) and Bình Thuận (5).

There were a further 5,810 recoveries, bringing the total number of people given the all-clear to 2,254,965.

Việt Nam also administered a record 2.9 million doses of vaccine on Thursday, taking the total doses administered to nearly 190 million.

Among them, more than 75 million people have received two doses and more than 34 million a third booster shot.

53 out of 63 provinces and cities have a vaccination rate higher than 90 per cent.

The remaining localities, with a vaccination rate from 82 to 90 per cent, are Thanh Hóa, Phú Thọ, Hòa Bình, Cao Bằng, Sơn La, Điện Biên, Phú Yên, Tây Ninh, Trà Vinh and Bình Dương. — VnExpress News
