Chloe San Jose, the girlfriend of gymnast Carlos Yulo, has countered accusations on social media that she is diverting attention from her boyfriend to herself.

Phil Star reported that a Facebook user commented on San Jose’s account, warning her not to overshadow Carlos and to be “prudent” with her online content.
“Especially now that this is Carlos’ spotlight after his Olympic gold medals, give him his spotlight,” the user advised. “Don’t take it away from him by hogging it all to yourself. The people want Carlos, not you.”
This person also remarked on the absence of media interviews with San Jose regarding her boyfriend’s victory, implying that the lack could mean something about the two’s relationship.
In response, San Jose clarified that she has rejected several requests for interviews.
“You haven’t seen any media interview me because I decline to be interviewed and not take away his spotlight, as you said,” she replied.
She then went further to criticize the tendency of people to speak without knowing the full context, basing their views only on social media content.
“No one even really cared about our relationship prior to Carlos’ winning moment, so why care now?” she questioned. “Oh, because there’s an issue and everyone wants to get involved?”
She concluded her response by suggesting those mainly interested in her boyfriend to visit his page instead of staying on hers.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Australia, 22-year-old San Jose is a model and online influencer.
Her boyfriend Carlos, 24, is celebrated as the most successful Filipino gymnast ever, according to Forbes.
As the second Filipino to win a gold and the first to win multiple golds at the Olympics, Carlos is set to receive several honors from the Philippine government, including a three-bedroom condo worth 32 million pesos (US$558,000) in Manila’s McKinley Hill, Fortune magazine reported.
The couple’s relationship began as San Jose messaged Carlos via X, formerly known as Twitter, in April 2020.
However, their relationship has not been fully supported by Carlos’ mother Angelica Poquiz Yulo, who has accused San Jose of exploiting her son and causing increased tension between them. Despite these allegations, Carlos defended San Jose in a TikTok video released on August 6.
