Man in India bites snake in counterattack, killing it

An Indian worker bit a snake twice, resulting in its death, after it attacked him while he was sleeping.

Santosh Lohar, 35, a worker at a railway line project in Nawada District of Magadh division of the Indian state of Biharwas, was bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping at his base camp last Tuesday night.

In response, Lohar seized the snake and bit it back twice, killing it in the process.

He did so in line with a superstition that biting a snake twice can transfer the venom back to the reptile, he told India Today.

After being bitten, Lohar was quickly taken to hospital by his colleagues, where he was treated with antivenom and monitored overnight.

According to the Indian Express, Lohar responded positively to the treatment and was released from the hospital the following day.

However, the specific type of snake that bit Lohar remains unknown.

The story went viral and some people assumed that the snake might not have been venomous, or else Lohar could have been in critical condition.
