Chinese actress Angelababy’s social media accounts reactivated

Chinese actress Angelababy’s social media presence has been restored, sparking discussions about the lifting of a ban linked to her involvement in her participation in Blackpink Lisa’s Paris striptease performance.

On Jan. 30, Angelababy’s Weibo and Douyin accounts were both unblocked, according to Sohu.

This development delighted her fans, who flooded her accounts with celebratory comments like “The beauty goddess returns” and “The three-month obstacle has finally passed.”

However, there’s no update from Angelababy‘s management regarding her upcoming professional engagements, and the actress herself hasn’t indicated a return to work.

Despite the reinstatement of her social media privileges, Angelababy won’t be appearing in the upcoming season of “Keep Running,” having been replaced on the show.

Angelababy had been banned from posting on social media since last November, an act believed to be the consequence of the actress’ participation in Blackpink Lisa’s striptease performance in Paris.

The actress was prohibited from posting and commenting on social media platform Weibo due to “violations of laws and platform regulations.”

Internet users were also unable to follow the actress’ account on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.

Strip dance is classified as a “sexually related activity” in China, and entertainment industry workers are banned from organizing, attending, or promoting such activities, as ruled in the country’s laws.

Born Yang Ying, Angelababy, 34, is an actress, businesswoman, investor, model, and singer. She started her career in the entertainment industry in 2007 and has become one of the top actresses in China. Her Weibo account has garnered over 105 million followers, making her one of the most-followed celebrities in China.

Born Lalisa Manoban in Thailand, Lisa, 26, made her debut with the South Korean girl group Blackpink in 2016. She launched a simultaneous solo career in 2021.

She performed for three nights at the Crazy Horse Paris on September 28-30. All of her shows were limited to people aged over 16 only, and guests were asked to not use their cellphones during the performances.
