Hanoi weekend: artistic exhibitions and musical harmony


Dive into Hanoi’s cultural buzz this weekend with art exhibitions, a classical concert, traditional instruments-electronics fusion, caviar dining, and a soulful baritone performance.

Exhibition “Draw the dragons”

The “Draw the dragons” exhibition will take place at the Temple of Literature and the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relic to showcase the New Year mascot – the dragon, through the creative lenses of various illustrators.

The Temple of Literature exhibit will display 80 illustrations from over 75 artists, each providing a unique perspective on the dragon theme. Simultaneously, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel will feature 30 dragon works by over 25 artists.

The event is scheduled from Jan. 20 to Feb. 20, at the Temple of Literature, 58 Quoc Tu Giam Street, Van Mieu Ward, Dong Da District. The exhibition will also be showcased from Jan. 21 to Feb. 25 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Relic, situated at 19C Hoang Dieu Street, Dien Bien Ward, Ba Dinh District. Admission to the event is free.

Music concert “Someone (else) in a Mug #1: Ludwig van Beethoven”

The classical music concert, “SiaM vol.32: Someone (else) in a Mug #1: Ludwig van Beethoven,” centers on the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. The event will delve into Beethoven’s early compositions, offering insights into the transition between Classical and Romantic period.

The concert will be held at two sessions. The first session is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Jan. 19, at Tita Art, located at 164A Tran Vu Street, Ba Dinh District. The second session will take place at the same hours on Jan. 20, at Middle Cafe, situated at 55 Ma May Street, Hoan Kiem District. Tickets are priced at VND300,000 ($12) per person.

Mix-up concert

The “Traditional Asian Instruments and Electronics” (TRAIECT) concert is now in its fourth edition. This is an event that focuses on the intersection of traditional Asian instruments and electronic elements.

Featuring seven new compositions from artists around the globe, the concert showcases the dan bau, a traditional Vietnamese monochord instrument, and a dao singing, a style of traditional folk singing associated with the northern region of Vietnam.

The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, at the Hang-Buom Cultural Center, 22 Hang Buom Street, Hoan Kiem District. Admission to the event is free.

Caviar and wine dinner

“Sturia Caviar and Wine Dinner” is a dining event featuring a 5-course dinner and an exquisite Sunday brunch at Le Beaulieu restaurant, situated within Sofitel Metropole Hotel Hanoi.

This five-course dinner and Sunday brunch feature dishes incorporating a 20-year-old French caviar brand. Guests can enjoy this culinary experience on Jan. 20 for VND5,500,000 ($224) per guest. A brunch is also available on Jan. 21 with prices ranging from VND2,500,000 to VND4,500,000 ($101 to $183) per guest, including wine and champagne options.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 20, and from noon to 3 p.m. on Jan. 21, at Le Beaulieu, Sofitel Metropole Hotel Hanoi, located at 15 Ngo Quyen Street, Hoan Kiem District.

Concert “Spring Fire”

This Saturday, experience the “Spring Fire” concert at Ho Guom Opera, featuring baritone Vladislav Sulimsky from the Mariinsky Theater. Sulimsky, in his Vietnam debut, will perform Antonín Dvořák’s Biblical Songs with the Sun Symphony Orchestra, along with other well-known compositions of Dvořák like the Carnival Overture and Symphony No. 9.

Ho Guom Opera is at No. 40-40A Hang Bai Street, Hoan Kiem District. The event starts from 8 p.m. on Jan. 20. Ticket prices range from VND500,000 to VND5,000,000 ($20.30 to $203). Interested attendees can sign up for the event through the link.
