The HCMC Department of Health has recorded over 12,500 pieces of negative feedback at public hospitals, most of them about registration services and restroom quality.
Announcing the results on Sunday, the department stated that those opinions were submitted through an automatic feedback system established at public hospitals across the city.
Specifically, the system received 12,522 opinions expressing dissatisfaction last year, an increase of over 18% compared to 2022.
The dissatisfaction mainly focused on the process of registering for medical examinations, which increased by one-third to 2,125 opinions. The quality of hospital toilets, a service that has been consistently complained about annually, has still not improved, with dissatisfaction increasing by over 30%.
Procedures for health insurance examinations, patient information and guidance, and waiting areas for examinations and tests also received more negative evaluations compared to last year.
Based on the feedback, the Health Department has requested public hospitals to consider adjusting the registration process for medical examinations and treatment, and the attitude of doctors and medical staff toward patients and their families.
Hospitals are also required to implement effective solutions to improve the waiting time for conducting tests as well as carrying out ultrasounds and other scans.
In 2017, Ho Chi Minh City installed an automatic feedback system across hospitals to have a foundation to improve the quality of public medical examinations and treatments.
The city currently has 54 public and 61 private hospitals.
