Bonnie Lai, actress and the first runner-up in the Miss Asia 1995 contest, has died at 46 under suspicions of suicide.

According to The Straits Times, Lai was found unresponsive in her apartment by her husband, cosmetic surgeon Angus Hui, on Tuesday. Despite receiving emergency medical care at the hospital, she was declared deceased.
Hui disclosed receiving a message from Lai earlier on Tuesday stating: “See you in the next life.” This led him to urgently go to her apartment, where he discovered her in an unconscious state.
The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities.
Hong Kong media reported that Lai was battling depression and was actively seeking treatment, as reported by AsiaOne.
Lai made her screen debut in 1993 aged 17.
Her first marriage was with actor Ken Lo in 1998, which ended in 2006, though they continued to share a cordial relationship. Lai remarried in 2007, to Hui.
