Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.15% to 1,102.43 points Thursday, staying at roughly the same level as it was on Nov. 8.
The index closed 1.67 points higher after gaining 4.46 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 15% to VND11.29 trillion ($463.98 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 10 tickers gained.
BID of state-owned lender BIDV led with a 1.2% rise, followed by TCB of the largest private lender Techcombank and VJC of budget airline Vietjet, both went up 1%.
Twelve blue chips fell. STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank dropped 1.3% and PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex closed 1.2% lower.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND535 billion, mainly selling HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.14%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.79%.
