PM Chinh leaves Vietnam for China visit

PM Chinh is set to visit China and attend the 14th WEF in Tianjin on June 25-28, following an invitation from Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF founder and chairman Klaus Schwab.

This is Chinh’s first official visit to China, which takes place during the 15th anniversary of Vietnam and China’s comprehensive strategic partnership.

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, the visit continues the tradition of high-rank communications and exchanges between Vietnam and China, demonstrating the appreciation and determination to develop relations between the two countries to become more sustainable, stable, and substantive.

Chinh’s visit will focus on finding concrete solutions to promote economic and trade cooperation, especially between the borders, and between localities abroad as well as removing and promoting the implementation of major infrastructure projects that still exist between the two countries.

This activity also contributes to strengthening political trust, promoting finding solutions to different issues, including those at sea, strengthening the two countries relations, contributing to peace and stability, and regional and global cooperation.

Deputy Minister Vu said PM Chinh was one of four key government leaders invited to the WEF’s 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, demonstrating the importance of the WEF as well as the international business community to Vietnam’s position and role in the economy, as well as Vietnam’s determination to reform and open up.

At WEF, Chinh will share his experience and learn from other economies and major enterprises in creating, activating and taking advantage of new growth engines.

He will also call on the global business community to increase investment in Vietnam, making recommendations related to public-private partnership models as well as measures to attract green and sustainable financial resources into the country.

Vietnam is China’s biggest trading partner in Southeast Asia, and China has been its top trading partner for long. Last year their trade was worth $175.6 billion, according to the Vietnam Customs.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, as of March, China poured $23.85 billion in 3,651 projects in Vietnam, ranking sixth among the countries and territories that have invested in Vietnam.
