Man steals 2,500 pairs of luxury shoes bound for South Korea

Police reported Thursday they were looking for a man whose false identity is 30-year-old Nguyen Tan Hung for absconding with the footwear worth over VND1.5 billion ($63,764) in total.

The goods had been slated for export to South Korea by Taiwanese shoemaker Kingmaker Footwear, based in HCMC-adjacent Binh Duong Province.

Kingmaker reported to police that its South Korean partners had complained that the 2,500 pairs of shoes were missing from a recent order.

When the company tried to find out what happened, they discovered that the driver who drove the container truck carrying the goods had quit his job and disappeared the day the shoes were supposed to be delivered to port.

Police found that the driver had used fake credentials and identifications to get the job under the name Nguyen Tan Hung. Investigators concluded that “Hung” thus stole the goods from Kingmaker.
