Authorities of the northern province of Bac Giang have approved a detailed plan to expand its biggest industrial park Quang Chau by 21%.
An additional 90.5 hectares will be added to the park, which now covers over 420 hectares. The expansion is set to cost nearly VND1 trillion ($42.27 million).
The park is now home to Apple supplier Luxshare-ICT. Another supplier, Foxconn, last year signed a memorandum to rent 50 hectares in the park when it is expanded.
Quang Chau was established in 2006 and is the biggest industrial park in Bac Giang.
It is 35 kilometers from Hanoi and 120 kilometers from Hai Phong port.
The park is now fully occupied with over 40 projects with a total registered investment of $2.8 billion, among them 37 are foreign direct investment projects.
Quang Chau provides jobs for around 67,000 workers.
Bac Giang is a key industrial locality in northern Vietnam. The province has recently approved a plan to build five new industrial parks with a total area of 1,100 hectares.
