Man jailed for 10 years for setting pit bull on neighbor during fight

Tran Dinh Thao, 45, was found guilty of “murder.”

Truong Anh Tam, 40, and Dang Van Ngoc, 37, got nine years each for assaulting him.

On May 29 last year Ngoc was drinking with Tam at his house and discussing a land dispute between the former and his relative, Thao, also a neighbor.

Tam then called Thao over to talk, but it led to a quarrel between Ngoc and Thao.

It escalated into a physical altercation, and Tam joined Ngoc to beat Thao up.

Outnumbered, Thao went home to fetch a shovel, but Tam managed to snatch it and hit him on the head and left eye.

Thao again went home and this time brought his two dogs, a pit bull and a German shepherd.

He set the dogs on Ngoc, and the pit bull bit him on the face, arms and legs.

In the normal Vietnamese manner, authorities assessed that Thao had 14% injuries due to the assault by the duo while Ngoc had 29% injuries.
