Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.26% to 1168.4 points Friday, closing the week with all five sessions in the green.
The index closed 2.98 points higher after gaining 11.22 points on Thursday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 25.29% to VND20.87 trillion ($883 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 12 tickers gain.
FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation and VJC of budget airline Vietjet both led with a 3.2% increase.
HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group went up 1.7% and HDB of HDBank closed 1.6% higher.
Fifteen blue chips fell. STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank dropped 3.3% and PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development fell 1.6%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND300.67 billion, mainly selling STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank and VPB of private lender VPBank.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.10% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up by 0.06%.
