HẢI PHÒNG — The Hải Phòng City Literature and Arts Association in coordination with the Việt Nam Musicians’ Association has organised a launching ceremony for a collection of 99 songs by musician Quốc Phòng.

Quốc Phòng’s collection of 99 songs is divided into two parts. Part 1, titled “Country, People, and Love,” consists of 69 works that depict the landscapes and people of Việt Nam, ranging from the mountains to the islands. It includes several pieces dedicated to Bạch Long Vĩ Island, Đằng Hải flower village, Cát Bà Island, and expresses his love for his beloved port city of Hải Phòng. Part 2, titled “For a Peaceful Life,” comprises 30 works that pay tribute to the People’s Police, who fearlessly preserve peace for their homeland.

Musician Quốc Phòng, whose real name is Phạm Văn Phòng, was born on August 6, 1955, in Hải Phòng City. He exhibited musical talent from a young age and actively participated in performing arts during his high school years. At the age of 18, he joined the People’s Police force and became a leading figure in Hải Phòng Police’s artistic endeavours. To date, he has released 160 songs.

Throughout his dedicated artistic journey, Quốc Phòng has been honoured with 18 awards from the Việt Nam Musicians Association, as well as recognition from various central and local agencies. Some of his notable works include “Chiều mưa nhớ anh” (Missing You After a Rainy Afternoon), “Phố biển mùa hè” (Summer Beach Town), “Xương rồng trên cát” (Cactus on the Sand) and “Tình ca rừng và biển” (Love Song of the Forest and the Sea).

Speaking at the event, Tô Hoàng Vũ, chairman of the Hải Phòng City Literature and Arts Association, highlighted the poetic and melodious richness of Quốc Phòng’s works. He emphasised that these compositions originate from sincere emotions and hold a deep connection to the homeland, the country, and the People’s Police. Vũ acknowledged the significant contribution of these works in uplifting the spirit of people from all walks of life, inspiring them to continue their efforts in successfully building their homeland and country.

Vũ expressed his hope that the musician will continue to showcase his qualities and talent, creating many more works that leave a lasting impression on the music-loving public of the city. VNS
