Singapore teacher jailed for upskirt videos of minors

The unnamed 50-year-old teacher admitted to multiple crimes, including taking around 170 upskirt videos of students and colleagues at the school, Today reported.

He had been working at the school since 2008.

Due to the allegations, the teacher had been suspended since 2018, but he was reportedly still employed as a teacher at the school, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Education, the Strait Times reported.

The suspect’s lawyer said he would appeal the sentence. The suspect has been offered a $11,200 bail as he waits for a hearing on the appeal, according to the attorney.

The incidents came to light after another teacher at the school, also a victim, suspected that the teacher was taking upskirt videos and reported him to police in July 2018. Authorities said the teacher used mobile phones to take upskirt videos of both students and colleagues without consent between April 2015 and July 2018.
