The organizer of Miss Global Success Business has been fined VND55 million (US$2,350) for holding the event without permission from authorities.
The representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of HCMC said that an administrative fine was imposed on the organizer Oriental Secret Investment and Entertainment JSC, as the unit organized beauty contest without approval documents.
The contest held an audition in March, opened for votes on Facebook in April, and took place in April and May. The website introduced it as an exchange event of music and fashion for businesswomen.
During the main event, contestants competed in talent rounds and catwalked in traditional ao dai, office outfits and evening gowns. The professional council included catwalk coaches, singers and beauty queens.
In May, a transgender beauty contest was also fined VND55 million for the same reason. The representative of the organizing company, Nguyen Huong Giang, was aware of the violations and said the company has gained more experience to better prepare for other contests in the future.
