British University Vietnam hosts green startup competition


British University Vietnam (BUV) has kicked off Greenathon 2023, an entrepreneurial competition for sustainable business ideas, with a prize pool exceeding VND400 million.

Marking its inaugural edition at BUV, this hackathon-style event presents a golden opportunity for aspiring young minds nationwide to convene, network, and forge practical business solutions that contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable advancement.

At Greenathon 2023, BUV welcomes young participants between the ages of 22 and 32 who have graduated from university and possess a passion for pursuing sustainable values, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Individuals or teams of three to five members can register for the competition; individual registrants will be assisted in team formation by the organizing committee before the event starts.

The competition will take place on July 1-2 within the premises of the British University Vietnam campus in Ecopark urban area.

Registered participants will have the opportunity to attend complimentary specialized workshops on several topics, such as business ideation, professional pitching, and green innovation impacts.

These training sessions will be hosted by distinguished speakers, including senior executives, entrepreneurs, and reputable experts, allowing participants to be fully prepared with necessary skills and knowledge to deliver their best entrepreneurial initiatives and solutions for the competition.

The Greenathon 2023 competition at BUV stands as a noteworthy event that amplifies the spirit of innovation, creativity, and fosters green entrepreneurship.

The competition not only creates opportunities for young individuals to cultivate sustainable business ideas but also contributes to the overall development of Vietnam.

Promoting sustainable development and community responsibility has been one of the core values of BUV since its inception, serving as a guiding principle in its operational and educational endeavors.

During the recent “Stronger investment partnerships for a thriving Vietnam” seminar organized by Vietnam Investment Review on May 15, Professor Raymond Gordon, the vice-chancellor and president of British University Vietnam, emphasized Vietnam’s potential as a promising ground for educational investment to greatly enhance the country’s competitive edge.

BUV has achieved a 5-star QS certification in various categories, including social responsibility.
