HCMC’s Dam Sen water park returns to pre-pandemic profit levels

Dam Sen Water Park in HCMC reported a first quarter profit of VND20 billion ($851,900), 2.3 times its earnings a year earlier and marking a return to pre-Covid levels.

Its revenues were up 82% to VND54 billion as the number of visitors too doubled to 290,000, or 3,200 a day.

However, Phu Tho Tourist (DSP), its parent company and operator of Dam Sen Cultural Park, suffered a loss of VND10 billion on revenues of VND56 billion, a second consecutive quarter of losses.

It blamed the continuing losses on high rentals and an aging park that is unable to attract visitors.

Both parks face a common problem of not being able to expand due to limited land availability.

But the water park chairman, Tran Viet Anh, remains confident.

“I am very proud that we have a successful brand, and so we can consider reaching out to neighboring provinces,” he said when talking about opening new branches in nearby provinces.

This year it plans on a renovation to fall in with new trends, and have a more friendly and modern design to meet customers’ expectations when looking for amusement for themselves and their families.

The company also seeks to promote itself on social media, online forums, travel blogs, and the media.

It plans to run promotions such as free tickets when traveling in groups, lucky draws and periodic entertainment shows.

Recent marketing and promotion campaigns have played a major role in bringing in profits in Q1.
