Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dropped 1.39% to 1047.4 points Thursday.
The index closed 14.79 points lower after gaining 22.06 points on Wednesday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) fell by 11.94% to VND9.40 trillion ($398.73 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 27 tickers dropped.
HDB of HDBank and PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex both fell 3.5%.
VHM of property giant Vinhomes dropped 3.3% and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank ended 3% lower.
VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail gained 1.6% and SAB of brewer Sabeco rose 0.8%.
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND87.34 billion, mainly buying HSG of steelmaker Hoa Sen Group and VRE.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was down 1.36% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.74%.
