Vietnam’s national women’s football team will train in Japan, Germany and New Zealand to prepare for the upcoming 2023 Women’s World Cup.
In their first Women’s World Cup ever, Vietnam is in group E with defending champion the United States, the defending runner-up Netherlands and the play-off winner between Portugal and Cameroon.
According to coach Mai Duc Chung, this group is really challenging, but it’s a golden opportunity for the team to accumulate more experience because it’s a rare occasion that they get to play such top teams.
To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) decided to send the team on three international training trips. The first trip will be in Japan from April 17 to 30, with a few matches against clubs there.
The second trip will take place from June 5 to 25 in Germany. During this trip, the team will play a friendly match against Germany and two games against local clubs.
In July, the team will travel to New Zealand, the co-host of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, to get used to the climate there. During 11 days of training there from July 6 to July 17, the team will play two friendly matches against New Zealand and Spain.
The Vietnamese women’s team will start the 2023 World Cup with a match against defending champion U.S. on July 22. The next two matches will take place on July 27 and August 1.
The national players are currently in the National Cup. The team will gather for training country on March 10 to prepare for the first qualifying round of the Paris Olympic Games on April 3. In addition to preparing for the World Cup, the team will also aim to defend its gold medal at SEA Games 32 in Cambodia in May.
