The average price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the Vietnamese market decreased down 10.7% to VND28.4 million ($1,203) in just a month.
Apple authorized resellers in Vietnam said a large batch of iPhone 14 Pro Max models were added to the market in early January, ending the high demand for the smartphone model.
In late December 2022, the 128-GB iPhone 14 Pro Max was priced at VND33.9 million, in early January, the device sold for VND31.8 million, and two weeks later, it had a price-tag of VND29.8 million.
Compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max price four months ago, when the model was launched, its price has plummeted by VND9 million.
Some Apple resellers said each iPhone 14 Pro Max was subsidized some VND900,000 by Apple, combined with their own discount programs, pushing the selling price of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max to a record low.
“This is the first time Apple has reduced the price of the iPhone 14, a surprising move for the Vietnamese market,” said a manager for Di Dong Viet. “Usually, the price subsidy will take place in the middle of a product’s life cycle, around June every year. With the iPhone 14, however, Apple has already stimulated demand four months ahead of schedule.”
Another reason for the sharp drop in prices is the abundant supply of 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models after Tet, the Lunar New Year holiday, which fell in late January this year.
Apple resellers confirmed that 80% of the iPhone 14s imported in January were Pro and Pro Max versions. At the same time, a number of high-end Android smartphones were also released, causing Apple to lower prices to spur demand.
