Two people in the Central Highlands’ Gia Lai Province were arrested for allegedly forcing seven teenage girls into sexual massage services.
Trinh Thi Mai, 40, and Tran Minh Chung, 38, were arrested Friday to be investigated for “trafficking of a person under 16” and “illegal detention or imprisonment of a person.”
Earlier this year, Mai and Chung opened a massage and motel business in Phu Thien District together, offering ticket prices between VND250,000 ($10.05) to VND1 million.
Mai “bought” seven teenage girls, aged 13-16, who were working in a massage parlors in Ho Chi Minh City, for VND300 million. She kept the girls on the fourth floor of the motel and forced them to provide sexual massage services for customers. If any of them had intentions of escaping, they would be fined VND10-20 million.
The seven girls have been rescued by the police and brought to a local social support center until their families come to get them.
An investigation is ongoing.
