Swimmers brought Vietnam three gold medals at the 2022 ASEAN Para Games (APG) in Indonesia on Monday.
Vo Huynh Anh Khoa started the tournament for Vietnam with a gold in the men’s 400 meter freestyle S8. He finished his part in 5 minutes and 29.35 seconds.
Later, two other Vietnamese swimmers claimed gold. Le Thi Dung finished the women’s 400 m freestyle S8 in 5 minutes and 59.87 seconds, breaking the previous record of 7 minutes and 24.1 seconds.
In the men’s 100 m breaststroke event, Tran Quoc Phi finished first in 1 minute and 14.8 seconds.
Vietnam will also compete in other events Monday, like the women’s 100 meter breaststroke, men’s and women’s 50 m backstroke, 4×100 m freestyle relay and 4×100 m medley relay.
The 2022 APG, the 11th edition of the biannual multi-sport event for disabled athletes in Southeast Asia, is taking place from July 30 to Aug. 6 in Surakarta, Indonesia. The tournament features 1,286 athletes competing in 14 sports.
