Three companies were also defaulters and were ordered to pay VND327 million in taxes and fines, he said.

Tax authorities have also found that many Vietnamese organizations and individuals who provided online services to foreign organizations did not submit their tax, he added.

Vietnamese tax authorities have been intensifying efforts to collect taxes on income from online transactions following the recent boom in e-commerce and Internet use.

Cross-borders platforms like Facebook and Google paid VND5.1 trillion ($220 million) in taxes for the period between 2018 and 2021, Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc said last month.
